Avril Askew, our reader, writes for us this month
Dear Church Family, I fear it is rather a long time since I last wrote; I think it is over a year at least and, as they say, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then! We have just been through the Whitsun Festival when the mighty rushing wind (and my goodness didn't it rush?) together with the bright sunshine, showed up all the dust of the previous months and got us all spring-cleaning. And now we are into the season of Trinity which will go on through the year for a very long time. Some people find it difficult to get their heads around the concept of Trinity; the three persons, one God, part of our Christian faith, but there are examples of three in one around if we put our minds to thinking of them. There is, of course, the humble clover leaf or an egg. Perhaps you would like to suggest some more; I'm sure Peter, our editor, would be delighted to hear your ideas on the subject. Trinity for us is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. I've done a lot of pondering over the years and have come to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit seems to be the feminine side of God (this is not meant to be a heresy, Vicar). It just seems to me many of the attributes given to the Spirit fit very well with feminine human nature. Speaking of Stephen, I am sure that you are missing him as much as I do, so please keep those prayers on the hotline to god for him. I'm sure we all wish him to be fit and well very soon. Until next time then, please don't get sunburnt and may the Good Lord enfold you in his love. Avril |
