Band

The All-Saints Band first emerged in the spring of 2009, bringing a new sound to reverberate around the historic walls of our parish church. Whilst we started out as a small 3-piece band focused on supporting worship in the “Prayer & Praise” service at the end of every month, the band has grown and now includes 9 regular members and has been involved in Family Eucharist services and Worship for All services. Some members have even managed to do a version of what we like to call ‘going on-tour’ taking opportunities to lead worship in other local churches! The band is first and foremost an expression of worship to a creative God who continues to inspire and surprise us. Our original motivation to set up the new band came from the oldest of church hymn books:
“Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. The band was publicly called the ‘youth band’ in a recent service. In literal age terms this is far from the truth. However in outlook we will enjoy the title and continue to serve in All Saints Church regularly enabling a youthful blend of traditional and contemporary style of worship. We know from St Paul that if we provide such music, use the lyrics and notes from such inspired composers “but do not have love” then we are nothing but “a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” We enjoy worshiping God, and thank him that he has demonstrated a love we might never truly understand in full. It is with this heart that we hope to continue to serve All Saints Church. You can enjoy worship with the All Saints band for Prayer & Praise services, which are normally timetabled as the last service of every month.
