Music we are performing or working on at the present time.
Christmas seems to have only just finished and we are already looking to preparing our programme for Passiontide. A lot of work to be done in a relatively short time. This year we shall be performing a slightly modified The Cross of Christ on Palm Sunday, 17th April. Please come along and listen to our performance and bring your friends. They will be made welcome. Lots more in the pipeline in future months so watch this space. Are we appreciated? Yes, we think so. Any indication of what we can do can be seen from the following comments in relation to our Easter performance of John Stainer's 'Crucifixion' in 2010:
AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS This seems to be the consensus of opinion following our performance of John Stainer's "The Crucifixion" on the evening of Palm Sunday. The choir was some 20 strong, thanks to our guest singers and all the hard work at practice paid off. It was an amazingly emotional experience and all the singers somehow seemed to drag up extra reserves from somewhere to produce a result which some described as "stunning". Other comments were: "I thought I knew the Crucifixion, but did not realise it could move you like that"..... and "Thank you for a wonderful and moving evening". We are most grateful to our guests, Alan, Tony, Martin and our very own Churchwarden, Colin. Your support was invaluable, gentlemen. Our Vicar, Rev. Canon Stephen Carter, accompanied us most competently on the organ and Director of Music, Dr. Stuart Pegler, undoubtedly worked harder than most as conductor and soloist. A great evening and I think, if asked, most of us would probably have gone ahead and done another performance immediately! Trouble is, nobody asked us! |
