PCC SECRETARY'S REPORT

Welcome friends to these monthly ramblings.
We met on Monday 4th January.
The Worship Committee informed the meeting that a computer projector for connecting to a lap top has been used in church to display words for songs and hymns. Using this instead of producing paper sheets will be a saving.
The 11.15 am first Sunday Communion service was mentioned because several church-goers had recently turned up for this service not knowing that it had been changed. It was suggested that plenty of notice be given in future for any changes.
The Estates Committee stated that the Tulletts were keen to have a memorial to Canon Dunlop. Stephen suggested we could have the glass door etched. This would also serve as a safety feature.
A design drawing for a proposed glazed oak screen set within the arch at the entrance to the D’Arcy Chapel was approved and will be sent to the Diocesan Advisory Committee for their approval.
St. Mary’s has approached us with a request to borrow some of our spare pews as they would like to see if they could be used for their choir.
Choirmaster Status. Stephen will be contacting Stuart Pegler to inform him that since he has taken over he has rejuvenated the choir in recognition of this he would appointed Director of Music.
A Gift Day will be held on the 20th March 2010. This will be preceded by a prayer day on the 19th March in church when people will be invited to spare a half an hour to come in and pray.
The price of the church magazine was brought to our attention. It was felt it should be increased. Peter stated that he had a vision of one day the magazine being distributed to everybody in the Parish free of charge. This was to be referred back to the Outreach Committee.
Well in the words of Harold Wilson “I am an optimist, but I’m an optimist who carries a raincoat”.
